Shane Brennan Re-Ups Deal With CBS TV Studios

NCIS: Los Angeles creator Shane Brennan has signed a new two-year overall deal with NCIS producer CBS TV Studios for his production company Shane Brennan Productions. Under the extension, Brennan will focus on development. He will remain an executive producer on NCIS: LA, which was renewed for an eighth season, but will step down as showrunner after steering the action drama for its first seven seasons. His No .2, longtime NCIS: LA exec producer R. Scott Gemmill, will take over.

Brennan has several projects in development including The Expendables, a co-production between CBS Television Studios and Lionsgate TV. This event series, based on the hit movie franchise, was set up at Fox this past season and is now being shopped to other networks and digital distributors.

Brennan Productions, is adapting Luna: New Moon, the first book in an upcoming science fiction series by Ian McDonald. Brennan and CBS TV Studios landed the rights to the book, set in the year 2110 on the moon, in a competitive situation last summer.
