Shameless renewed for season 10, with Cameron Monaghan returning

Emmy Rossum may be leaving, but Cameron Monaghan is returning.

At Thursday’s TCAs, Showtime announced that Shameless has been renewed for a 10th season, which will premiere later this year. Shameless now becomes the network’s longest running series ever.

Monaghan, who stars as Ian Gallagher, departed the series last year when Ian was sentenced to two years in prison, where he reunited with the love of his life, Mickey (Noel Fisher). Talking to EW after the episode, Shameless boss John Wells expressed optimism that Monaghan would return down the road.

Shameless‘ ninth season airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

Showtime also announced premiere dates for The Chi season 2 (April 7) and freshman series City on a Hill (June 16).
