Shakira’s dominance over 2023 is spilling into her success at the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards. The Colombian pop icon received seven nominations this year, including in the Song of the Year and Record of the Year category. Alongside her collaborators Bizarrap and Karol G, Shakira took home two Latin Grammy awards. Shakira also performed “Acróstico” with her sons.

The first award Shakira claimed was Best Urban Fusion/Performance during the pre-show. She shared her win with Karol G for their post-breakup anthem “TQG” from the Mañana Será Bonito album. Shakira received a second win during the telecast when she won Best Pop Song for her other big collaboration this year “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Argentine producer Bizarrap. Both artists went up to accept the award with Shakira sharing a heartwarming speech.

“I also want to share this with my Spanish public,” she said. “You have been there accompanying me through the good and the bad, in difficult moments.”

Later, Shakira performed her heartfelt ballad “Acróstico.” She donned a golden gown with Mary, the mother of Jesus, at the center of her chest. Just like in the music video, Shakira’s sons Sasha and Milan also appeared onscreen to join their mother in singing the song. The beautiful performance was a sweet highlight of the eveing.

Shakira made history with her three nominations in the Song of the Year category. She is the first artist to achieve this feat thanks to the nominations for “Acróstico,” “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” and “TQG.”
