Shakira might be best known for her big hits like "Hips Don't Lie," "Whenever, Wherever" and "She Wolf," but it was her skin-showing dress that got music fans talking.

The Columbian singer showed up to the first-ever Billboard Mujeres En La Música event, also known as Billboard's Latin Women in Music gala, on May 6 where she was named 2023 Woman of the Year. The 46 year old was applauded for the huge accomplishment — an unsurprising achievement after selling over 85 million records worldwide — but it was her edgy outfit that caught everyone's attention.

The former Voice judge stepped out in a strapless black David Koma mini dress that featured a small triangle peekaboo cutout along the bottom on one side. What's more, the look also featured leather trim accents to spice it up. As for the rest of the ensemble, Shakira slipped on a strappy pair of black Versace heels.

In a twist, the singer contrasted her little black dress with a pink lip, rosy blush and lined eyes for her makeup. Meanwhile, she kept her strawberry blonde hair in its signature long curls.

To commemorate the "perfect night," she posted a photo of her look on Instagram and fans immediately took to the comments section to share their thoughts. "ICONIC ✨🔥," one person wrote. "Very beautiful!!!!!," another added. "🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥," a different follower chimed in.

The celebration comes on the heels of what has been a year of change for the "Waka, Waka" songwriter. In October 2022, she announced her split from longtime boyfriend Gerard Piqué after 11 years together — something she alluded to in her acceptance speech at the event.

"This has been a year of seismic change in my life where I’ve felt more than ever and very personally what it is to be a women, and what it means. It’s been a year where I’ve realized we women are stronger than we think, braver than we believed, more independent than we were taught to be." she said in Spanish.

Shakira continued: "It happened to me, more than once. But there comes a time in the life of every woman where she no longer depends on someone else to love and accept herself just as she is."

Lucky for us, it seems this is just the beginning of a new era for Shakira, which hopefully means not only new music, but new sizzling red carpet outfits as well.
