FX is putting a stake in the heart of their vampire series.

FX has some news destined to drive us batty.

The network is bringing vampiric comedy series What We Do in the Shadows to an end. The network tells EW that the show's upcoming sixth season will be its last.

Based on the 2014 film of the same name, What We Do in the Shadows follows the lives of a group of vampires — Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Colin (Mark Proksch) — living in a New York borough, along with their human familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) and Vampiric Counsel envoy, The Guide (Kristen Schaal).

Adapted from Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's movie, What We Do in the Shadows premiered in 2019, introducing audiences to this motley crew of vampires just trying to get through life in the big city.

The show has earned multiple awards nominations, including an Emmy win for its costumes and multiple Critics Choice Award nods for Best Comedy Series.

It's also made a breakout star of Guillén, who earned raves for his season 4 arc in which he comes out to his vampire family. "Guillermo fell into a world of fantasy where he longed to be a vampire because what are vampires?" said Guillén of the episode. "They live forever. They're immortal. They're usually very hot. They're usually very rich. He wanted that life where no one could mess with him. But his coming out was really special because he's torn between his chosen family and his biological family. And the only reason he comes out… It's not because he's ready. His coming out was only meant for someone else. And usually that is the case, coming out is usually for someone else's benefit — to make them feel comfortable. And so he was doing it to buffer the situation and be like, 'Okay, she's not my girlfriend because I'm gay.'"

Season 5 concluded back in August. It centered on Guillermo's struggle to reveal the truth about his new vampiric attributes, as well as a string of horrific experiments conducted by Laszlo.

Season 6 does not yet have a premiere date.
