‘The Shack’ Trailer: Sam Worthington Meets The Holy Trinity
Lionsgate has dropped a new trailer to the forthcoming faith-based film The Shack, directed by Stuart Hazeldine and starring Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer, and Tim McGraw.
Based on a New York Times bestseller by William P. Young, the pic follows Mack Phillips (Worthington) who is grieving after the abduction of his young daughter. He receives a mysterious note from ‘Papa’, which is his wife’s name for God, urging him to go to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Upon arrival he encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa (Spencer). Through this meeting, Mack finds not only important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy but also learns about himself.
The trailer features an array of beautiful imagery and also includes an original song written and performed by country music’s prominent duo McGraw and Faith Hill.
The film, from a screenplay by John Fusco and produced by Gil Netter, Brad Cummings and executive produced by Mike Drake, will bow in theaters March 3.
