Shaandaar is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film. It is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. Shaandaar showcases a whimsical narrative revolving around the lives of the Arora and Fundwani families. The ensemble cast features Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, with Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor in supporting capacities.

What does Bipin do to make Alia fall asleep?

The narrative revolves around Alia Arora, a young orphan suffering from insomnia. Alia finds solace in the drawings her adoptive father, Bipin Arora, creates for her every night. Bipin does so, hoping to lull her to sleep. Although Alia is loved by Bipin and his biological daughter, Isha, her stepmother, Geetu Arora, and grandmother, Kamla Arora, have no love for her. They prioritize their business interests over familial bonds.

The story takes a turn when Bipin’s family embarks on a journey to attend Isha’s destination wedding in London. En route, a comical altercation unfolds between Bipin’s car and a motorcycle driven by Jagjinder Joginder, affectionately known as JJ. JJ turns out to be the event manager for Isha’s wedding. The wedding holds immense significance for the Aroras as they hope to secure their financial future by marrying Isha to the seemingly wealthy Fundwani family. However, the groom, Robin Fundwani, proves to be superficial and disdainful towards Isha due to her weight and love for food. This puts a strain on their relationship.

How did JJ and Alia connect with each other?

Amidst the chaos of wedding preparations, Alia and JJ, both battling insomnia due to past traumas, find an unexpected connection. They bond through magical and humorous moments and eventually help each other overcome their insomnia. Bipin, fiercely protective of Alia, inadvertently reveals her true parentage.

It is revealed that Alia is actually Bipin’s biological daughter from his past relationship. He had to break up with Alia’s mother and get married to Geetu due to family pressure. Soon after giving birth to her, Alia’s mother passed away, and then Bipin took her in but hid her true heritage. Initially resistant, Bipin gradually begins to accept Alia and JJ’s budding relationship, spurred on by Isha’s encouragement.

Shaandar ending: Did Isha marry Robin?

The tension escalates at the wedding when Robin’s behavior towards Isha becomes increasingly intolerable. Despite their reservations, the Aroras prioritize their business deal with the Fundwanis over Isha’s happiness. They turn a blind eye to her distress. However, the situation takes a dramatic turn. Kamla unexpectedly passes away from sneezing, throwing the wedding into disarray. In a desperate attempt to salvage the ceremony, the Aroras resort to pretending that Kamla is still alive.

During the wedding ceremony, Isha reaches her breaking point when Robin humiliates her, prompting her to make a bold decision. In a powerful display of self-worth, she refuses to marry Robin and delivers a stirring speech about embracing one’s true identity. As tensions reach a boiling point, Mr. Fundwani’s desperation leads to a chaotic confrontation, culminating in a startling revelation about the Fundwani family’s financial woes. In a daring escape, Alia, JJ, Bipin, Isha, and Robin flee the scene in a helicopter, leaving behind the chaos of the wedding.

Shaandaar is available to stream on Netflix.
