The 'Sex Education' gang is continuing to "enjoy the journey" as they navigate life's highs and lows in the show's fourth and final season, premiering Sept. 21

Grab the tissues, Sex Education is coming to an end!

Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells and Gillian Anderson are preparing to bid farewell to the hit comedy series, which is returning Sept. 21 with new additions Dan Levy, Hannah Gadsby and Jodie Turner-Smith. And now, thanks to Netflix, there is finally a full-length trailer teasing the show’s fourth and final season.

Season 4 of the series, set in England, picks up with Butterfield’s Otis Milburn, Gatwa’s Eric Effiong and Mackey’s Maeve Wiley navigating their final year in high school.

Following the closure of their former high school, Moordale Secondary, Eric and Maeve embrace their new chapters, while Otis fights to reclaim his position as the school’s underground sex therapist at Cavendish Sixth Form College.

In the previous three seasons, Otis and Maeve worked together as co-sex therapists for their former high school. But with time, they caught feelings for one another and began exploring their relationship on and off throughout the years.

As Season 3 came to a close, so did their high school. But Maeve took the closure as a time to relocate to an entirely new country and continue her education in the U.S. Still, Otis and Maeve are also getting up to some risqué behavior while apart.

In the trailer, Maeve sends Otis a nude photo of herself and asks him to return the favor. But Otis, even after putting in the effort to get the right shot, chickened out and left Maeve hanging.

As Otis continues to cope with the changes in their relationship, he also adjusts to his new school — and his new sibling. After Anderson’s Jean gives birth in the latter half of season 3, the mother and son cautiously adapt to their growing family.

In a tense scene between Otis and Jean, the trailer reveals Otis bargaining with his mother, tersely expressing, “I know it’s been hard! But I still need a mum.”

As Otis faces the reality he is no longer an only child, or his campus’ only sex therapist, his friends embrace what’s next for them.

While Eric continues to pick up the pieces after his break up with Swindells’ Adam, Maeve takes on her new education with vigorous motivation, getting help from her new professor played by Dan Levy.

As Meat Loaf’s “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” scores the teaser, fans get a glimpse into the characters’ chaotic adaptation to their new surroundings. And for many of them, sex is still a very prominent aspect of their daily lives. At one point, Gatwa’s Eric has an intimate moment with a new sexual partner while Wood’s Aimee tests out a new vibrator.

However, at the core of it all, the final season trailer teases how the characters are preparing to navigate what’s next for them.

“You should try and enjoy the journey,” says Otis. “It doesn’t last forever.”
