Take a deep breath. Something huge has happened. HBO Max has confirmed that the Sex and The City reboot is happening. That's right; Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda are making an actual comeback. While the third, much-hyped movie never happened, HBO has confirmed that Sex and the City is getting a TV revival, entitled And Just Like That....

Although one main character won't be part of the reboot (sob), we can expect to see some major love interests returning. We've already been treated to our first look at the much-anticipated series, while HBO previously confirmed which new cast members would be joining the reboot.

Now, things have just got even more exciting as we've finally got an official teaser trailer for the reboot, *and* a release date. Exciting! Here's everything we know about the Sex and The City reboot so far.

When is And Just Like That being released?

The show started filming in spring 2021 (via Variety) which fans assumed meant the show wouldn't drop before 2022. But wait! A new teaser from Sarah Jessica Parker revealed we can actually expect the show in December 2021 - on the 9th to be precise! So soon. So exciting.

In the clip, she says, "It’s Sarah Jessica. Hello from New York City, 5th Avenue. Shooting as we speak the next chapter of Sex And The City, or as we like to call it,And Just Like That, with some beloved friends. In the meantime, And Just Like That will premiere in December on HBO Max!"

HBO Max added, "True friends never go out of style. #AndJustLikeThat arrives Dec 9 on HBO Max."

Eeee!

Where can you watch And Just Like That in the UK?

The SATC reboot is being released by HBO Max in the US. But the good news is that you'll be able to stream it in the UK too.

And Just Like That will be available to watch in the UK on Sky Comedy, as well as on NOW. If you want to watch the reboot on NOW, you'll need an Entertainment Pass, which costs £9.99 per month - but there's also a seven-day free trial when you first subscribe.

Do we have a trailer for And Just Like That yet?

Yes! the first official trailer dropped on 11th November 2021, alongside the release date. In it, we watch Carrie and Mr Big share a kiss (!), get a glimpse at the new characters and see three of the original four sharing a picnic in New York. We're so excited! Watch it here:

A teaser trailer for And Just Like That was released in September on the Instagram page for And Just Like That, leaving the clip mysteriously caption-less - but, we'll be honest, this one speaks for itself.

In the short teaser, we can see Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda looking absolutely fabulous, as Carrie spins around to wave at an unknown character.

Then - and this is the exciting part - the teaser cuts to a clip of Carrie and Mr. Big, played by Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth, dancing in the kitchen together as well as leaning in for a kiss. OK, now we officially can't wait to see more.

The video has no sound, which weirdly adds to the suspense even more. Have a watch for yourself...

Then, on 1 December the first, full-length trailer was released and somehow it looks more glam than ever. Carrie is doing a podcast, *the* closet is back, plus we get a glimpse of Steve and Harry. Yay!

Who has been cast in And Just Like That?

As well as SJP, original stars Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon will also appear, but Kim Cattrall won't be back after the actor made it clear she had moved on from the series, which originally ran from 1998–2004.

Plans for a third film were scrapped when Kim said she didn't want to do it, explaining at the time it was "an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another". There have been rumours for years that she and co-star Sarah didn't get along.

Since Kim confirmed she won't be starring in the reboot, fans have been speculating how her absence will be explained on the show. One theory is that she'll be killed off, and fans think they've spotted the clue that proves it.

The clue in question is a TikTok clip which shows the entire cast dressed for a funeral while filming in New York. Evan Kline who posted the TikTok said: "Everyone was wearing all black, is it for Samantha's funeral?"

Kline captioned the clip "Samantha Jones can never die", and it seems plenty of fans shared the same opinion. "Nooo they can't kill Samantha!" commented a fellow Tiktoker.

Since then, though, new reports claim Samantha actually won't be killed off at all, but instead the door will be left open in case she wants to come back. A source told the Daily Mail in November 2021: "We’ll announce eventually that the show will have a second season. This isn’t a one off, this will be a series.

"It will be quite a while between the first and second series as Sarah Jessica Parker has a busy schedule and we have a lot of work to do to get Kim Cattrall back. We all miss Kim and we hope she comes back for the second season – the door will never close on her, she is an important part of the franchise."

But, in slightly better news John Corbett (no, not that one) recently confirmed that he will be returning to reprise the role of Aidan Shaw, Carrie's ex-fiancé and to many, her rightful partner. "I'm going to do the show," Corbett told Page Six, adding that he thinks he is set to appear in "quite a few" of the new episodes.

In May 2021, MailOnline also revealed Chris Noth would be back as Mr. Big, and Miranda will also be joined by her on-screen husband Steve - played by David Eigenberg. "Viewers will definitely see Big, Aiden and Steve," a senior production source said.

While we don't know much about the storyline as of yet, this recent news will likely reignite the Aidan Vs. Big debate which got a lot of fans talking when the series first aired. The discussion was then brought up again in the second film when Carrie ran into Aidan in Abu Dhabi and ended up sharing a kiss with him.

Meanwhile, as the fans were losing it over Kim Cattrall's absence from the show, SJP reportedly has a plan to replace her with some new big name talent, and is trying to persuade friend and former costar Hugh Grant to join the project.

"Sarah Jessica has it in her head that she needs a big - and I mean big - male star in the SATC reunion ensemble," a source told The Mirror. "To help smooth over the absence of Kim [Cattrall].

"At the top of SJP and HBO Max's wish list to join the series is Hugh Grant, who loves the show and had a great time working with Sarah Jessica in the past, and with HBO just last year on his massive hit The Undoing. And the money's there to bring in Hugh and pay him his full freight."

Have any new characters been confirmed for And Just Like That?

Yes, bring on the newbies! On 15 July, Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: "And finally!!!! THRILLED to welcome @therealsararamirez, @NicoleAriParker, Karen Pittman and Sarita Choudhury to #AndJustLikeThat. Can’t wait to work with these brilliant actors who bring so much talent, humor and excitement to our ensemble."

Grey's Anatomy's Sara Ramírez is joining the series as Che Diaz, a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian who hosts a podcast that Carrie frequently joins. In a recent press release, HBO Max said: "Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humour and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular.”

Sarita Choudhury (Little Fires Everywhere) will star as Seema Patel, a self-made real estate broker in Manhattan; Karen Pittman (The Morning Show) will take on the role of Dr. Nya Wallace, a Columbia Law School professor, and Nicole Ari Parker (Empire) will play Lisa Todd Wexley, a documentarian and mother of three.

What's And Just Like That going to be about?

SJP previously spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of the show returning as a series rather than a third film, but said it would need to be a "revisit" rather than a "reboot".

"I’d like to see where all of them are," she shared. "I'm curious, the world has changed even since the movie. I mean, the world has changed so much, technology and social media.

"They never - which is maybe a virtue too because I would have complicated things even more - so those characters never talked about social media, which I think would be really interesting and just also sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up has really steered conversations about sexual politics, and I think Carrie Bradshaw would just be so greedy to share her feelings and thoughts."

As the hype for the reboot builds SJP posted a picture on Instagram of Carrie Bradshaw's apartment, featuring the iconic steps up to the building where so much drama happened across the seasons.

In the post Parker told fans she is both "thrilled and terrified" about the reboot. Us too, SJP...

When did filming for And Just Like That begin?

Filming started in summer 2021, and we *officially* had our first look at the much-anticipated series in July. HBO's official Instagram for And Just Like That... shared a glorious snap of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon strolling down the streets of Manhattan looking incredibly fierce.

The photo, taken by Craig Blankenhorn, has spun the internet into a frenzy. Let's just say when HBO Max Pop commented on the post, "crying in my manolos 😭💗," we felt that. Fans were also pretty impressed by the update, with one commenting, "anyone else see this and almost start crying?," while another added, "❤️❤️❤️❤️ just like that I got goosebumps!"

By November 2021, production was close to wrapping, with Chris Noth aka Mr Big giving fans a sweet glimpse at a special moment between him and SJP.

"Late night finish in the park - love every minute we get to be together. @sarahjessicaparker" he wrote. Adorable! SJP, meanwhile, revealed two days before that ...And Just Like That! is on the "home stretch" of filming.
