‘Sex and the City’ Actor Mario Cantone Joins Cast of Universal’s ‘All My Life’ (Exclusive)

Mario Cantone has joined the cast of Universal Pictures’ bittersweet tale “All My Life.”

The film is inspired by the true story of Jenn Carter and her husband, Solomon Chau, a young couple who, as they planned their wedding found out that Chau had liver cancer. In the face of their devastating news, Chau and Carter moved the date up and raised more than $52,000 through a GoFundMe account to ensure they got the wedding of their dreams. They were married four months before he died on the day they were originally supposed to be married.

Cantone’s role was not disclosed, but the leads will be played by “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Glee” star Harry Shum Jr. (Chau) and “Happy Death Day’s” Jessica Rothe (Carter). Chrissie Fit, Jay Pharoah, Marielle Scott and Kyle Allen also recently joined the cast.

Cantone is probably most known for his role as Anthony Marantino in “Sex and the City” as well as the subsequent movies. He was also nominated for a Tony in 2004 for his one-man show, “Laugh Whore,” and has starred in multiple Broadway productions including in Tony-winner Joe Mantello’s production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s “Assassins.”

More recently, Cantone appeared in Netflix’s film, “Otherhood,” starring Angela Bassett, Felicity Huffman and Patricia Arquette; as well as an episode of “Mom” on CBS.

“All My Life” will be directed by Marc Meyers (“My Friend Dahmer”), based on a script that Todd Rosenberg wrote, which was featured on The Black List in 2017.

Todd Garner and Sean Robins will produce for their Broken Road Productions banner. Universal’s senior vice president of production Sara Scott and director of development Lexi Barta will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Cantone is represented by Insurge-Ent and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson LLP.
