SEVENTEEN Member Seungkwan Thanks ASTRO’s Moonbin After Daesang Win at 2023 MAMA Awards

Popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN took home some of the biggest awards at the 2023 MAMA Awards, which was held at Tokyo Dome, Japan, on November 28 and 29, 2023. SEVENTEEN won a total of five MAMA awards, including the honorary Album of the Year award for their 2023 album FML. While receiving the award, the boy band members gave an emotional speech. One of the members, Seungkwan, took the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude towards his dear friend and the late K-pop idol Moonbin of ASTRO.

During their speech, while receiving the award for Album of the Year at the 2023 MAMA Awards, SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan remembered Moonbin, who passed away at the young age of 25 on April 19, 2023. Seungkwan started his speech by appreciating his fellow K-pop stars and recognized how tough the K-pop industry is. He then went mentioned ASTRO’s Moonbin, expressing his gratefulness to him for his constant love and support.

Following this, Seungkwan said to his fans, CARATS, “I’ll keep gifting you better, and better music. We promise you, thank you,”. He continued by saying, “I’ll say one more thing. Since it’s our first time for grand prize today at 2023 MAMA Awards, while preparing for it, watching others’ stages, I respected you all so much, thank you. Whether or not you received award today, I want to say that all the artists here are so great, and I learn a lot from them,”

While fighting tears, the artist further said, “This is not an easy occupation, but let’s cheer for each other and go on. I don’t know if I can say this but… There have been many things this year and all who loved and supported our music, and to Bin, I want to say thank you and love you.”

SEVENTEEN win big at the 2023 MAMA Awards

Apart from the Album of the Year award for FML, SEVENTEEN also won four other big awards at the 2023 MAMA Awards. The boy group received the award for Best Male Group and Best Dance Performance Male Group for ‘Super.’

They also won the Bibigo Culture & Style award and the prestigious Worldwide Fans’ Choice award at the ceremony, along with BTS, ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, NCT DREAM, Lim Young Woong, Stray Kids, TWICE, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and ZEROBASEONE.
