Seth Rogen Refutes 'Bullsh*t' Rumor That Emma Watson Stormed Off Set of 'This Is the End'

Seth Rogen, whose first book is out through Crown in May, has stepped up with some words of support for Emma Watson amid what he’s explained as a misrepresentation of the truth.

In a recent British GQ interview, the prolific multi-hyphenate spoke a bit on the 2013 apocalyptic meta-comedy This Is the End. In the text of Stuart McGurk’s interview, i.e. not a quote from Rogen himself, an oft-mentioned rumor about Watson—more specifically that she “stormed off the set” over a scene involving a Danny McBride as a cannibal and Channing Tatum on a leash—is mentioned.

While Rogen is quoted in the piece as saying there were “no hard feelings” and that Watson was “probably right,” he was not quoted directly about the rumored storming out.

In a tweeted statement shared Monday night, however, Rogen made it clear that no such storming out ever happened.

In fact, any narrative positing Watson as “in some way uncool or unprofessional” is—according to Rogen himself—“complete bullshit.” As Rogen explained, he’s regretful of not having better communicated with Watson about a scene that he noted was improvised and “changed drastically” from what Watson had originally agreed to shoot.

“I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again,” Rogen said. “I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it.”

Earlier this month, Rogen was reported to have been cast as Steven Spielberg’s uncle in an upcoming movie loosely based on the legendary director’s childhood. Everything about that sentence is incredible.
