Seth Meyers’s ‘Closer Look’ At Alternative Facts And Lies About The Inauguration

On Late Night, Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at the beginning of the Donald Trump presidency, including Trump’s rather bleak speech that included words never uttered in an inaugural address, such as “bleed”, “carnage”, and “tombstones.”

Meyers also dug into the new term that Kellyanne Conway of the Trump administration coined, “Alternative Facts,” which are, surprisingly, not trivia about ‘90s rock bands like R.E.M., 311 and The Smashing Pumpkins. Alternative Facts are, simply put, lies like the ones Trump and his administration have told about his inauguration crowd size being much bigger than all other estimates prove.

Regardless of factual estimates about the crowd’s size — alternative or truthful — no one could dispute that Saturday’s Women’s March overshadowed the attendance at the inauguration. Millions of men and women turned out for the peaceful protest on Saturday morning, and tempers only flared in a singular brief encounter, in which one Trump supporter suggested that this “mess” wouldn’t have happened if the protestors had jobs, to which a marcher responded, “B****, it’s Saturday!”

Late Night With Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. on NBC. Watch the full clip here:
