Seth Meyers: Trump's Been Misleading the Nation Since Home Alone 2 — Watch

President Donald Trump is making it a heck of a lot easier for Seth Meyers to do his job. Take Wednesday’s “A Closer Look,” for instance, which examined 45’s use of executive orders.

The Late Night host barely had to argue his point, instead queuing up a series of clips to showcase POTUS’ hypocrisy when it comes to working around Congress to enact new laws. Trump, of course, routinely criticized former President Barack Obama for being “a president who can’t get anything done so he just keeps signing executive orders.”

“The White House released a statement bragging that Trump will have signed 30 executive orders during his first 100 days, which is ridiculous,” Meyers argued. “Claiming you have been a good president just because you have signed a lot of executive orders makes no sense — but don’t just take it from me, take it from this guy…” He then cut to a series of soundbites from the 2016 election cycle where Trump characterized Obama as a president who took advantage of executive action because he wanted to “go back and play golf.” (Yes, really.)

“It is at this point like a law of physics: For every Trump action, there is an equal and opposite Trump clip,” Meyers continued. “I swear if Trump said the bathroom was down the hall and to the right, I’m sure we would find an old clip of—” The host was then interrupted mid-sentence by a scene from Home Alone 2, during which Trump directed Kevin McCallister to a bathroom “down the hall and to the left.”

Later, Meyers turned his attention to Trump lackey Chris Christie, who once upon a time referred to Obama as a “dictator” and a “petulant child” for his use of executive orders. The segment then examined Trump’s tax reform plan, as well as Ivanka Trump’s role as First Daughter.
