Seth Meyers and Bill Hader's Stefon had a whirlwind "Weekend Update" wedding on Saturday Night Live over a decade ago, and as Meyers now explains, the bit was a "dry run" for his actual nuptials.

During a conversation with Beanie Feldstein on Late Night with Seth Meyers Monday, the host reflected on the hilarious television moment after Feldstein admitted that the character of Stefon meant "everything to me."

"I was thinking about who I wanted to be my valentine other than my wife, because it’s like, who do you really love in a very emotional way... Stefon," Feldstein joked.

To which Meyers responded, "Look, I know him as well. I only knew how to get married ’cause I married him first. He was my dry run.”

During Hader's final episode as an SNL cast member in May 2013, he appeared in one more "Weekend Update" skit with Meyers, who essentially broke up a fake wedding between the character and Anderson Cooper. Meyers and Stefon then tied the knot themselves and ran to the SNL studios, where they celebrated the moment with peers.

In real life, Meyers wed his longtime wife Alexi Ashe in September 2013, less than four months after the skit aired.

While Meyers didn't elaborate on how exactly Hader's lovable character prepared him for his own big day, he and Ashe celebrated their 10th anniversary in September 2023, when Meyers posted a loving photo of his wife to Instagram.

Elsewhere during Meyers' conversation with Feldstein, 30, the pair chopped it up about the actress' own wedding. The Drive-Away Dolls star wed longtime girlfriend Bonnie-Chance Roberts in May 2023, an experience that she called "perfect" on the late night program.

Feldstein also described a hilarious encounter she had with her wife's friend and wedding guest Abby during the big day, when Feldstein accidentally left cabin curtains open after she finished showering and stepped out to check the time.

"I'm hunched over, butt-naked and I look up like this, like a gremlin in the night, and Bon's friend Abby is standing in the glass door," Feldstein recounted. "I've never screamed so hard in my entire life."

She added; "Because this is the worst way you want anyone to see you, let alone if you're butt-naked on your wedding day. So Abby really gave me fright. But other than that it was perfect."
