Serena Williams Says Marriage to Alexis Ohanian Is 'Really Fun'

Serena Williams says life with a partner is “really, really fun.”

The tennis superstar appeared on the third hour of Today on Wednesday to chat about her new partnership with Pampers, and got candid about her marriage to husband Alexis Ohanian, 35.

“It’s just been so amazing to have him in my life and to have my daughter in my life as well,” she said, referencing the couple’s daughter Alexis Olympia, who will turn two in September. “He has done so much for the family and for us … it’s all new to me.”

Continued the athlete, 37, of Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit: “Merging with a partner that is just as successful and just as motivated and everything, it’s awesome and it’s amazing. It’s been really, really fun.”

The couple wed in November 2017, two months after welcoming their daughter. Williams and Ohanian were engaged in December 2016.

Williams also opened up about her legacy — in the athletics world and beyond — revealing that it’s something that she thinks about “little to none.”

“When you think about all the things that you’ve done and you like sit down and really meditate on it, it becomes overwhelming,” she told the Today cohosts. “So then you just kind of start playing for the love of it. So I believe if you think about it you become too satisfied and too content and you lose motivation. “

“That’s one of the reasons I never really lose motivation because I always think about what I want to do next, not what I’ve done already.”

So what’s next for Williams?

“Obviously, grand slams are what’s most important to me,” explained Williams. “I was really close last year, so close but literally just back from having the baby and looking back, I don’t know how I did that … and I had the audacity to be upset when I didn’t win … I have a better shot now but we’ll see.”
