Serena Williams reportedly footing $75,000 bill for Meghan Markle's baby shower venue: Details

Having famous friends pays off -- literally!

Several of Meghan Markle's celebrity pals are tasked with executing a baby shower fit for a royal on Wednesday in New York, contradicting previous reports that the event would be earlier in the week.

Serena Williams is reportedly picking up the biggest bill, according to the Daily Mail. The outlet also reports that Amal Clooney is co-hosting the affair. Also in attendance will be Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer, as well as a few of Meghan's college friends from Northwestern University.

The tennis champ will cough up $75,000 to hold the shower a the penthouse suite of The Mark, where Markle has seemingly stayed since quieting arriving in the city on Friday. That figure does not include the price of catering, decorations or any other expenditures.

Williams joined the Duchess for dinner on Tuesday night along with other friends.

Clooney was not spotted with Markle ahead of the shower, but like Williams, she attended the royal wedding in May 2018.

And while we haven't publicly seen Clooney and Markle together since, they've been spending time together under the radar: Last summer, the Clooneys invited Prince Harry and his wife to visit their Lake Como estate. Almost nobody knew about the vacation until it was all wrapped up -- only local police were clued in to the royal arrival -- so if Clooney is looking to make a discreet entrance and exit to Markle's shower, we may never be the wiser.

The intimate shower will reportedly include just 15 of Markle's friends. It's not yet known if her mother, who lives in California, is in New York for the event.

Markle will reportedly have a second baby shower upon returning to the United Kingdom, but not until after her visit to Morocco with Prince Harry. She is due this spring.
