'Blade Runner,' 'Alien,' and 'Memento': Sequels, Prequels, and Reboots, Oh No!

Better go grab your pitchfork out of the garage, because we have a bunch of news that we might need to get all riled up about.

For example the movie Memento is getting a remake. Not a sequel, or prequel. It’s just straight up getting remade by Ambi Pictures, who made the announcement Monday morning. They recently acquired the films rights from the Exclusive Media Group film library. Long story short, AMBI’s trying to get their money’s worth out of these rights. But we think there is no way original director Christopher Nolan will ever be involved.

Elsewhere, Ryan Gosling has revealed that he’s in negotiations to star in Blade Runner 2, a film that has been in the works for like a decade. Now depending on how you feel about Gosling, this could go one way or the other. But as we see it, who doesn’t want to return to the world of Blade Runner?

And speaking of sequels nobody really actually asked for, the Prometheus sequel has gotten a new name. It was Prometheus 2, then it was Alien: Paradise Lost, but it has now been changed again to Alien: Covenant. That probably won’t change your thoughts on Prometheus, because that sucker was all over the place. But at least they are using the Alien moniker. That’s a good sign, right?
