September 11 events, memorials across Brevard

Patriot Day, observed on Monday, Sept. 11, commemorates those who lost their lives in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Organizations across the Space Coast will host events to honor the day.

Due to potential changes and cancellations, we encourage you to check with presenting organizations about the status of their events.

Please note that not all of these events take place on Monday, Sept. 11.

9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Rockledge

The City of Rockledge will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Rockledge Civic Hub, 530 Barton Blvd., on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. The event will feature dynamic speakers, music and more to unite the community and never forget. Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony in Palm Bay

The City of Palm Bay will host a remembrance ceremony at Palm Bay City Hall, 120 Malabar Road, on Monday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. Guest speakers will help commemorate Patriot Day. Visit facebook.com/events/600331082265237.

9/11 22nd Anniversary Memorial Tribute on Merritt Island

The Veterans Memorial Park, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, will host the memorial event on Monday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The program will support and remember the emergency responders, civilians and military who lost their lives on 9/11, and all those who fell later as a result of toxic exposure or while taking the fight to the terrorists abroad. World Trade Center memorial in Viera

Guests are welcome to pay their respects for the lives lost on 9/11 at The Avenue Viera, 2261 Town Center Ave., on Monday, Sept. 11. The World Trade Center memorial site has remnants of the World Trade Center and is located across from AMC Theatres. Guests can visit any time during center hours. The Avenue Viera will have flowers and flags available for guests to leave at the site or take with them in memory of the fallen. Visit avenueviera.com.

Memorial Stair Climb in Merritt Island and Titusville

Inspired by the sacrifices made by first responders on 9/11, the Merritt Island and Titusville locations of Workout Anytime will host a memorial stair climb on Sept. 9, 10 and 11 during staffed hours. The clubs will be open for anyone who wants to participate in the challenge of completing 110 floors on the stairs. The Titusville location is at 3265 Garden Street, Titusville. The Merritt Island location is at 123 E. Merritt Ave., Merritt Island. Admission is free, but non-members must complete a waiver.
