Dayton-area airports to receive grant funding from FAA

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown announced Wednesday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded two grants to three Southwest Ohio airports of at least $1.3 million, according to a press release.

Two of those airports are in the Miami Valley, Dayton Wright Brothers Airport and Greene County Lewis A. Jackson Regional Airport.

The City of Dayton will receive over $900,000 to reconstruct the perimeter fencing to improve safety mitigating wildlife hazards at Dayton Wright Brothers Airport, the release said.

The Greene County Regional Airport Authority & Greene County Board of Commerce will receive at least $260,000 to rehabilitate apron pavement to an existing hangar used for aircraft storage to assist the Greene County Lewis A. Jackson regional Airport.

“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” Brown said.

The funds will be used to help make repairs to airports and their critical infrastructure, the release said.

“These federal investments are great news for the region and will enhance safety and operations at these Southwest Ohio airports, and improve travel for area residents and businesses,” he said.

The Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is receiving $216,000 to seal their runway pavement surface and pavement joints at the Cincinnati West Airport, the release said.
