'Selling Sunset' stars Chrishell Stause, Jason Oppenheim break up: 'We remain best friends'

Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim are moving their relationship to Splitsville.

The "Selling Sunset" stars, who made their romance Instagram-official five months ago, are no longer dating but "continue to have the utmost respect for one another," Oppenheim revealed on his Instagram Stories Tuesday.

"We remain best friends and we will always love and support one another," he added.

Though Oppenheim described Stause as "the most amazing girlfriend I've ever had" and said their romance was "the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life," he noted they "have different wants regarding a family."

"Chrishell is an exceptional human being and loving her and having her in my life is one of the best things that has ever happened to me," he continued.

Stause gave her take on their breakup later that day in a statement posted on her Instagram.

"Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward," she wrote. "Men have the luxury of time that women don't and that's just the way it goes."

She added: "I very much hope to one day have a family and decisions I make at this point are with that goal in mind. Thank you for the kindness and support to those that understand. And thank you Jason for the most incredible relationship and for consistently being honest with me even when it hurts."

The colleagues first announced their relationship in a set of cozy vacation photos snapped in Capri, Italy, and posted on Stause's Instagram on July 28.

In one picture, Oppenheim's arm is wrapped around Stause as they sit on a boat, and in another he plants a smooch on her neck. Oppenheim is Stause's boss at the Los Angeles real estate firm The Oppenheim Group, the subject of the Netflix reality series.

"The JLo effect," Stause captioned the images, an apparent reference to recent photos of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who also vacationed in Capri. Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance following Lopez's split from ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez earlier this year.

"Chrishell and I became close friends, and it has developed into an amazing relationship," Oppenheim, 44, told People at the time. "I care about her deeply and we are very happy together."

Stause, 40, was married to "This Is Us" star Justin Hartley, 44, from 2017 to 2021. Their sudden split was documented in Season 3 of "Selling Sunset." Stause said Hartley notified her that he filed for divorce via text message. Hartley made his romance with actress Sofia Pernas Instagram official on New Year's Eve.

Stause and Oppenheim's romance has been teased as a topic on Season 5 of "Selling Sunset," which has finished filming but has not yet been released. Season 4 debuted on Netflix in November.
