The 31-year-old actress and singer upped her style ante as she stepped onto the 2023 MTV VMAs red carpet in a barely there, red beaded gown by Oscar de la Renta. The floral-themed red dress had a halter neck with a plunging neckline that showed off Gomez's considerable assets. The skirt was also handcrafted with beaded flowering vines, with a thigh-high slit left open in the front.

She looked glossy and stunning, with her hair open and straight, parted in the middle, and matched her lip shade to the dress for a perfect pout. The "Only the Murders in the Building" star looked absolutely stunning at the VMAs, as fans called her "Slay-lena," and said she was the "queen of their hearts!" She kept her diamond jewelry matching the theme as well, choosing to go with earrings, rings, and a single bracelet.

Gomez also stepped on stage to receive a 2023 MTV Video Music Award, together with Rema for their song "Calm Down," in the Best Afrobeats category. Given that this particular category is highly competitive, it was a high win for Gomez and Rema who appreciated the same in their speeches, thanking all for making it happen. The "Single Soon" singer also posted a picture of them sitting together on her Instagram Stories, as she playfully grins in the VMAs snap.

Before the win, Rema spoke to "Pitchfork" about the same, saying, "'Calm Down' is about the events that led me to find love at the time. It started at a party where I saw a girl who stood out from the other girls, so I felt like shooting my shot. We spoke and danced...but her friends didn’t let me get any closer, which killed the vibe, but afterward, when they weren’t there, we stayed in touch and hit it off."
