When it comes to living in a constant bubble of celebrity friendships and drama alike Gomez is definitely at the top of that list. Recently, her new found friendship with Kim Kardashian West has allegedly put on strain on her longstanding friendship with BFF Taylor Swift . Gomez has also encountered issues with her current boyfriend The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid. Also, most of her fans know she was in a high profile relationship with pop superstar Justin Bieber, whose marriage to Hailey Baldwin is also very high profile. Though, Gomez and Baldwin seem to have a fairly cordial relationship. However, one of Gomez's biggest battles is with the medical condition Lupus, and sometimes her fans don't understand the struggles she endures while taking the medication.

According to Perez Hilton Gomez recently sat down for a chat during Raquelle Stevens' 'Giving Back Generation' podcast and explained that one of the darkest times in her life was when she had to face social media bullies that had no idea what she was going through.

“I experienced that with my weight fluctuation for the first time. I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure so I deal with a lot of health issues and for me, that’s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff. No, [the lupus doesn’t affect my weight]; it’s the combination of all of it. It’s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life—it depends on even the month, to be honest. So for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for that. In reality, that’s just my truth. I fluctuate. It depends on what’s happening in my life. Right [it’s totally out of my control], and that got to me big time. I think for me, that really messed me up for a bit.”

Through it all though Gomez remains optimistic and wants everyone to know she's doing fine and will continue to fight this battle with the help of family, friends, and faith.

“I think once I started to really understand my spirituality, and believing in something much bigger than myself was very important for me. Because I don’t believe that I can do this life alone. I know that we’re not perfect. I know that what I read in the Word that I live in is all kinds of stories of pain and trials and redemption and restoration, so I believe that so much, but it’s my friends too. You guys help me through a lot of it and you walk through most of it with me.”
