Selena Gomez Joins Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham at the Academy Gala to Celebrate Friendship ‘Anniversary’

The trio jokingly refer to themselves as a "throuple" during the stylish red carpet event

Brooklyn Beckham, Nicola Peltz and Selena Gomez are celebrating their tight bond.

The trio attended the 2023 Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Sunday and got ready for the night together as they marked the “anniversary” of when they first met and connected.

Both Gomez, 31, and Peltz, 28, Maison Valentino gowns as they walked the red carpet and enjoyed the star-studded evening.

Gomez’s black silk dress was designed specifically for her by the Italian fashion house’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The off-the-shoulder gown featured a silver sequin rose embroidery piece that wrapped around her neck and sat around her arms, and she wore a pair of gloves to match. The actress finished the look with some bling from Tiffany’s, including a large ring, bangle and a pair of drop earrings.

Peltz wore a strapless blush pink dress from Valentino’s Spring 2024 collection, per the Italian fashion house, with a flower detail at her waist and a wrap draped around her neck that elevated the look.

She posed with her husband on her arm on the red carpet, and Beckham, 24, looked dapper in a classic suit with a white dress shirt.

The friends shared photos from their night together on Instagram, and Beckham shared a post featuring Gomez, along with two solo shots of him and his wife, as he wrote, “Our anniversary xx.”

Earlier this year, Peltz told Cosmopolitan UK that she and her husband spent time with Gomez at the Academy Gala last fall, and that’s how their friendship started. “We just clicked and had the best time,” the model recalled of the event. “And then we became super, super close. I feel like she’s my soul sister.”

The trio have jokingly adopted the title of “throuple” in the year since they’ve become close friends, with the Only Murders in the Building star coining the nickname after they took a NYE trip together last year.

“Fine calls us a throuple #foreverplusone,” Gomez wrote alongside several photos of their tropical getaway last January. Peltz commented, “Facts 💘💘💘🤣.”

Beckham later went on to acknowledge the title as he said of their friendship on The Jennifer Hudson Show in March: “She says we're a throuple. She's such a sweet girl.”

He continued, “I love when my wife makes new friends, especially really great friends. We all get along.”

In May, Peltz gave another insight into their dynamic together as she told Gomez for an interview with Wondermind, “Our throuple! I love you so much. Selena, we love you so much, you have no idea.”

The “Single Soon” singer said it's important to surround herself with "people who are like-minded" and "love you for you" as she noted that that’s what drew her to Peltz and Beckham.

“Also, I think we speak the same love language where it's like, we never really go out in LA, we are with our six dogs now, we're always working or with the dogs," Peltz said. "And when we're hanging out, it's always like sleeping over with Gracie and Brooklyn's cooking, we're watching a movie — and that's the best."

The Transformers actress added, "The best moments are when you don't have to do anything. You can just be with the people you love, and it makes me so happy, but I'm also such a homebody."
