Selena Gomez may have been celebrating her music at the MTV VMA Awards on Tuesday night but the singer made sure to use the limelight to rep her makeup brand Rare Beauty.

More from Variety

Gomez walked the carpet in a stunning spring gown by Oscar de la Renta, constructed out of flower-shaped appliqués with a plunging neckline that fell into a fringe train. Such bold looks are often coupled with a pared down makeup look but makeup artist Hung Vanngo managed to create one of the best beats on the carpet — using all Rare Beauty products.

On her lips, Gomez wore Kind Words Matte Lipstick in the shade Humble, a rosy mauve that managed to complement and not overpower the dress. On her lids, Vanngo applied a mix of warm shades from the True to Myself Eyeshadow palette for a sultry, smokey eye.

Vanngo, Gomez’s longtime makeup artist, shared his entire process on Instagram, calling the romantic beauty look “red velvet.”

Gomez’s anticipated appearance on Tuesday night marks the first time the singer has attended the VMAs since 2015. She was nominated for three MTV VMA Awards this year for her song “Calm Down” in collaboration with Rema, for which she ended up taking home the award for Best Afrobeats.
