Michael Richards is returning to the public eye.

The Emmy-award winning actor and comedian — best known for his role as Kramer on Seinfeld — has exclusively revealed with PEOPLE that he will release a memoir next year. Entrances and Exits, published by Permuted Press, is set to publish in June 2024.

“I am thrilled to present to the world Entrances and Exits, the long-awaited memoir by Michael Richards, whose side-splitting antics as Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld have entertained generations of viewers and left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape,” says Anthony Ziccardi, Publisher of Permuted Press, in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

In his book, Richards, 74, will share never-before-told stories from his life, including being raised by his schizophrenic grandmother. He also writes of his time in the United States army after being drafted in 1970, and how he found his voice in theater at a young age. The experience helped shape his career, from performing in the comedy scene alongside Robin Williams and Jay Leno, to his breakout role on Seinfeld.

Richards also provides a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Kramer’s character and his lasting influence on pop culture. He gives an insider's perspective on creating the show's signature comedy alongside the cast, writers and guest stars. Show creator Jerry Seinfeld also wrote the foreword for the book.

Richards will also reflect upon his “shameful” 2006 outburst, when he was filmed shouting racial epithets at audience members during a stand-up show in Los Angeles. After the incident, Richards has largely kept his life private. The incident drove him into a “lifelong spiritual quest,” as well as one of accountability.

"My book is a hymn to the irrational, the senseless spirit that breaks the whole into pieces, a reflection on the seemingly absurd difficulties that intrude upon us all," Richards writes in the book's introduction, also included in the statement.

Entrances and Exits
, as its publisher states, is “irresistibly candid, insightful, humorous, and complex.”

“This book captures all the wit, irreverence and outrageousness of the beloved Kramer character, while also parting the curtain of Michael’s private life to reveal the background and experiences that helped shape his destiny and eventually catapult him to the top of his profession and ‘must-see-TV’ immortality,” Ziccardi says.

Entrances and Exits is set to publish in June 2024.
