‘Seinfeld’ Actor Says He’s ‘Embarrassed’ for Anti-Trump Debra Messing, Eric McCormack

“Will & Grace” stars Debra Messing and Eric McCormack spoke out against Hollywood peers who might be attending an upcoming Trump fundraiser and now “Seinfeld” star John O’Hurley has spoken out against them.

“I’m embarrassed for both of them,” he said during an appearance on Fox News Monday. “I’ll say this because I know them both and I’ve worked with Debra before. They’re both smart people. They do wonderful work but they’re pushing a case that falls apart from the sheer weight of its lunacy, as though the Hollywood community needs to be purged of this social and intellectual hygiene problem called conservative thinking.”

“It underscores the fact that we aren’t receptive to diversity of thought, which is the exact opposite of what you feel the liberal way would be,” he told Fox’s Leland Vittert. “I find that obscene.”

The fundraiser is being held in Beverly Hills on Sept. 17, five days before the Emmys are held in Los Angeles, with a minimum $1,000 donation required to attend. Messing called for a list of all attendees to be published, saying that “the public has a right to know.”

McCormack followed that up with a similar call “so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with.”

Representatives for Messing and McCormack did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
