Seen Through the Artistic Eye: Norton previews Judith Lauder's photography collection

Leonard Lauder and Judy Glickman Lauder attend a Nov. 30 reception to mark the opening of "Presence: The Photography Collection of Judy Glickman Lauder."

Artist, philanthropist and photographer Judith Glickman Lauder found herself the examined rather than the examiner at a reception to mark the opening of Presence: The Photography Collection of Judy Glickman Lauder.

The event took place Nov. 30 at the Norton Museum of Art.

The evening included wine, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and remarks by museum director/CEO Ghislain d'Humieres thanking Mrs. Lauder for her work and giving a shout-out to photography curator Lauren Richman for her organization of the exhibit.

Richman led guests on a tour of the show, which presents about 110 photographs by more than 50 artists, including many by Lauder herself, who attended the opening with her husband, Leonard.

Drawn exclusively from Judith Lauder's collection, Presence includes works from photographers Berenice Abbott, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Imogen Cunningham, Danny Lyon, Sally Mann, Susan Meiselas, Gordon Parks, Joyce Tenneson, James Van Der Zee, and more.

More than 200 supporters of the Norton Museum ―including members of the board of trustees, as well as Norton Circle members ― attended.

The exhibit will be on view through March 10.
