See Rihanna accept Harvard's Humanitarian of the Year award
During Rihanna’s last major public appearance, she was sitting at the Grammys with a shiny flask. But when she’s not up to pop star antics, the Anti star has also done a lot of charity work and she was awarded for her efforts as Harvard University’s Humanitarian of the Year.
In recent years, Rihanna helped build a state-of-the-art breast cancer treatment center at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, and started a scholarship fund to help Caribbean students studying in the U.S. Rihanna appeared at Harvard on Wednesday to accept the award.
“So I made it to Harvard,” the singer said, flipping her hair. “Never thought I’d be able to say that in my life.” She continued and spoke about her humanitarian instincts as a child. “I would say to myself, ‘When I grow up, and I can get rich, I’m gonna save kids all over the world,'” Rihanna said. “I just didn’t know I would be in the position to do that by the time I was a teenager.” She also gave one sage piece of advice from her grandmother: “If you got a dollar, there’s plenty to share.”
