See photos from Times photographers for World Photography Day

Saturday is is World Photography Day, an annual celebration of the artistry and history of photography. The medium has come a long way since its invention in the early 19th century, with millions of images shared daily to social media alone.

Tampa Bay Times photographers take many photos every year with the mission to visually document the people and places of Tampa Bay and share their diverse stories.

A lot of skill, planning and care goes into every assignment. Our photographs are never manipulated beyond light toning.

Take a look below at some of the most memorable photos so far this year.
