See Old Acting Footage of ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ Host James Lipton

James Lipton joined Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, where Cohen reached deep into the vault to find some very old footage of Lipton acting. Lipton was first shown very early in his career when he appeared in the soap opera The Guiding Light as Dr. Dick Grant. He later appeared in one episode of The Goldbergs in 1954, his last acting job until 2005.

But Lipton wasn’t a struggling actor. He was making a living as a writer before making those television appearances and continued to do well as a writer.

But in 1994, Lipton created and became host of Inside the Actors Studio, and Cohen shared some of his favorite moments from that show. Lipton has a serious demeanor and asks ridiculous questions with a straight face. This silliness through the seriousness sometmes leads to hilarious interactions with his guests, of which Cohen showed clips.

After so many years working in television, Lipton proved he still has a sense of humor and that his career isn’t the only thing that has staying power.

Later in the interview, Lipton said, “I just wanna say that I also have a perky butt, though I’m not gonna get up and show it.”
