Director James Gunn posted a selfie with his stars after a table read.

Nicholas Hoult has shed his locks and headed to Metropolis.

Director James Gunn posted a photo of the Superman: Legacy cast after a table read on social media Thursday, offering a first look at a very bald Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor. The British actor is joined by costars David Corenswet (the Man of Steel himself), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), María Gabriela de Faría (the Engineer), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), and Terence Rosemore (Otis).

The table read marked the cast's first gathering, according to Gunn. "What a wonderful day," he wrote in the post.

Scheduled to hit theaters July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy will follow Corenswet's titular superhero as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Gunn has said the film will be the "true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe," and also confirmed that the "primary story most definitely revolves around Superman and Lois."

As for the Man of Steel's archnemesis Lex Luthor, Gunn previously teased that Hoult — who was among one of the finalists for the lead role of Superman before it ultimately went to Corenswet — would play a Lex "different from anything you've seen before and will never forget." Other actors who've portrayed the villain on the big and small screens include Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg, John Shea, Michael Rosenbaum, Jon Cryer, and Michael Cudlitz.
