1. Last chance to see Lights in Lincoln Park

You’ve been saying it all season long, and now is your last chance to go!

See the twinkling animal light displays throughout Lincoln Park from the comfort of your warm car. Load up your vehicle with family and friends and head over any night through Dec. 29 between 5 and 8 p.m. For just $5 a carload, this is an affordable way to make some holiday memories while supporting the Lincoln Park Zoo during its offseason.

A Family Fun Walk through the lights will be held 5-8 p.m. Dec. 30 as well to offer a more immersive experience.

2. Attend a New Year's Eve party

One of the most social nights of the year, New Year’s Eve draws crowds of people to local restaurants and bars.

Head out for the good food and drinks, then stay for the party as the clock hits midnight. Here's what's happening at different establishments:

  • The Fat Seagull, 807 Quay St., will start celebrations at 2 p.m. with live music from Charlie Bucket;

  • The Linebacker, 527 N. 10th St., is hosting a New Year's Eve darts tournament;

  • PetSkull Brewing, 1015 Buffalo St., hosts live music starting at 5 p.m.;

  • Salute To Everyone, 1107 S. 10th St., will have a DJ starting at 7 p.m.; and

  • Eight Second Ride will play at The Tipsy Tomato, 1228 Memorial Drive, starting at 8 p.m.

3. Watch the short film 'WindShipped'

Boat nerds won’t want to miss the screening of “Windshipped” at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, 75 Maritime Drive.

Learn how the schooner Apollonia is using the tides and winds on the Hudson River to sustainably navigate the New York Harbor.

The vessel started service in 2020 and is making waves on the future of maritime logistics.

4. Visit Farm Wisconsin during extended hours

Don’t let the kids sit at home over winter break! Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, is offering extended hours to beat that boredom with hands-on learning in the 10,000-squaere-foot Discovery Center and fresh Wisconsin-sourced breakfast and lunch options at the on-site Wisconsin Café.

The center is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 27-30 and the café is open the same days 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. See information and upcoming events at https://farmwisconsin.org/.

5. Take in live music

These next couple weeks are busy, so take time to unwind with live music and drinks.

Dec. 28, Steve Peterson plays at Salute to Everyone, 1107 S. 10th St., at 5:30 p.m.

Dec. 29, Bacchus Lotus plays live at PetSkull Brewing, 1015 Buffalo St.., at 4 p.m.; BRIX, 930 S. Eighth St., is hosting Riley Haupt at 7 p.m.; and The Wharf, 606 Quay St., hosts karaoke at 7:30 p.m.

Dec. 30, Conscious Pilot plays at PetSkull Brewing at 6 p.m. and Two Feet Tall is live at Salute at 8:30 p.m.
