Jack White is giving fans an intimate glimpse in his life at home in LA with a new series of portraits shot by renowned photographer and current Celine creative director, Hedi Slimane.

More from Rolling Stone

The photos, released this week, are part of Slimane’s on-going “Portrait Of…” series, which has featured artists like Joan Jett, Gus Dapperton and the Parisian band Oracle Sisters in the past. The latest feature, dubbed “Portrait of a Musician,” was shot in December, and finds White decked out in looks from Celine Homme while posing with a custom glittery blue Fender Telecaster. Always one to experiment with fashion, the singer sports dyed blue hair to match.

Other photographs find the musician in a rockabilly-style bomber on a rooftop overlooking LA, and rocking a signature Slimane tailored leather jacket, while posing against a vintage car.

Most of the photos are shot in black and white — another common Slimane signature — and together with White’s serious expression, the series offers up a decidedly moodier (and broodier) version of the White Stripes star. The portraits are expected to be used in an upcoming Celine campaign to promote their menswear line.

This isn’t the first time Slimane and White have worked together; the designer has frequently outfitted the musician for both red carpets and performances, while at his current stint at Celine and during his time at Saint Laurent and Dior.

And while he’s best-known these days as Celine’s creative director, Slimane has been a renowned photographer since the early Nineties, releasing a number of anthology books and helming campaigns for both fashion and lifestyle brands. Though his work has mainly focused on depicting youth culture (Celine calls it “a cross section of a generation”), Slimane was also one of the first people to put musicians at the front and center of his campaigns. This portrait series with White continues that trend, and cements Slimane’s place as one of fashion’s most celebrated visionaries.
