See It First: Get Inspired by Etana’s ‘I Rise’ Video

It should come as no surprise that reggae star Etana has been dubbed "the strong one." Throughout her career she has used her music to inspire her listeners with resonating songs “Wrong Address,” “Free,” and “ Better Tomorrow.” The latter was selected as the anthem for the “Stop Ebola and Build for the Future” campaign.

Yahoo Music is pleased to premiere the music video for Etana’s “I Rise,” the title track of her latest album that reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Reggae Album chart.

I Rise says a lot,” Etana says in a statement. “Over the years I’ve learned a lot and in the learning process came a lot of pain and struggle. And to see the growth and see hard work pay off, felt really, really good. Each time I go through a hard day or any kind of struggle and obstacle, I get up that next day and I rise out of any kind of bad mood or energy, and move on in a positive direction. My hope is this album will be inspirational and be like medicine for those in the struggle.”

The VP Records artist whose music melds reggae, world and R&B music, and has been dubbed “reggae’s Jill Scott” by NPR, continues her Queen of the Islands Tour with Hawaiian songstress Anuhea.
