Gas prices in Florida hit the lowest price seen in months this week, according to industry analysts.

The drop is due to lower demand for gas in the U.S. and economic worries around the world, according to AAA. As prices surged this summer, Americans have found ways to use less gas, causing the low demand that analysts haven’t seen since July 2020.

The average price of gas around the state fell for the eighth week in a row, hitting an average of about $3.72 per gallon Tuesday, according to GasBuddy data.

The average gas price in Miami was $3.84 as of Tuesday, which is a drop of about 71 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy, with the cheapest station at $3.25.

National gas price averages dropped below $4 a gallon for the first time since March, according to Patrick DeHaan, a petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, which tracks fuel and trends across the country, and does surveys of local gas station prices.

Will the price decline continue?

“While I’m upbeat the drop can continue for another couple weeks, we’re starting to see some activity in the tropics, which may increase risk of potential disruption,” DeHaan said.
