It may not be a stroll down the Yellow Brick Road, but "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu is giving out a sprinkling of Oz magic.

Chu, who is helming the upcoming film adaptation of the musical, shared a sneak peek at stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's transformation into their characters on Instagram Sunday.

"You weren’t told the whole story. What happens when you veer off the Yellow Brick Road?" Chu captioned the post.

Chu’s post features a pair of photos of Grande as Glinda the Good Witch and Erivo as Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West. Grande can be seen making her way up what appears to be a long staircase in a pink gown, while Erivo is seen dressed in Elphaba’s signature all-black ensemble.

"It’s been wonderful making magic with you," Erivo commented on Chu’s post.

Grande posted her cast photo to her respective Instagram page Sunday, sharing her excitement.

"I’m crying real tears right now," Grande wrote alongside the photo.

Chu shared an update on the film's production last month, writing on Instagram that the musical dramedy’s release date had been moved up to Nov. 27, 2024, after receiving "an overwhelming amount of messages asking us to release the movie earlier than planned."

"Bring the family, bring your friends…it’s going to be a ride!!!" Chu wrote at the time. "Appreciate all your support through this long production process."

The Universal Pictures vehicle will release in two parts, with the first in November 2024 and the second during the holidays in 2025.

"It became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of 'Wicked' into a single film without doing some real damage to it," Chu announced in April 2022 on Twitter. "So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one 'Wicked' movie but two!"
