A second woman has alleged that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler assaulted her when she was a teenager, per a lawsuit filed in New York on Thursday (November 2nd).
As reported by Rolling Stone, the allegations stem from two apparent encounters on the same day in the summer of 1975 in New York City. Plaintiff Jeanne Bellino, a former child model who was 17 at the time, is seeking unspecified damages in the suit, which lists “gender motivated violence” as the cause of action.
In the suit, Bellino alleged that she first met Tyler, 27 at the time, via a friend who had arranged for them to meet Aerosmith at the Warwick Hotel following a Manhattan fashion show that Bellino was working. From there, Bellino, her friend, Tyler, and members of his entourage began walking down Sixth Avenue together. At this point, Bellino claims that she asked the singer about a song lyric, and that he became frustrated and forced Bellino into a nearby phone booth.
The lawsuit states: “While holding her captive, Tyler stuck his tongue down her throat, and put his hands upon her body, her breasts, her buttocks, and her genitals, moving and removing clothing and pinning her against the wall of the phone booth. As Tyler was mauling and groping Plaintiff, he was humping her pretending to have sex with Plaintiff. Others stood by outside the phone booth laughing and as passersby watched and witnessed, nobody in the entourage intervened.”
The suit states that “Tyler’s penis was erect and it was evident to her as he rubbed it against her that he was not wearing underwear and wearing thin pants.” She eventually managed to run out of the phone booth “in shock and fear.”
She further alleges that his entourage “watched, laughed and did nothing to intercede” and that she stayed with Tyler and the group because she was relying on her friend for transportation.
After the phone booth encounter, the lawsuit said the group then went back to the Warwick Hotel, where Tyler allegedly forcibly kissed Bellino and grinded on her near the hotel’s bar while she attempted to resist. She then claims that Tyler whispered in her ear that he was “going in my room to do something quick,” and that he’d call her to come to the room after.
Eventually, Bellino claims that Tyler did call down to the lobby to say she could come up to his room, but she stated she “couldn’t talk and was paralyzed,” shaking her head to the hotel associate. A doorman who witnessed the encounter at the bar helped her hail a cab home, where she said she immediately told her sister all the allegations.
Per the suit, Bellino “has suffered and will continue to suffer, great pain of mind and body, severe and permanent emotional distress, physical manifestations of emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation, physical, personal & psychological injuries” and that she has been hospitalized and medicated as a result of the incident and still needs medication “to cope with the sexual assault and has suffered long-term physical injury associated with the trauma” almost 50 years later.
Bellino’s allegations come nearly a year after Julia Misley, formerly Julia Holcomb, sued Tyler in Los Angeles court accusing him of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager in the 1970s. She claimed that Tyler, then 27, began dating her shortly after her 16th birthday in 1975, and that her mother signed over her guardianship to Tyler, whereby the two moved in together at Tyler’s Boston home.
She alleged that she soon became pregnant, but then their relationship went south, adding that their apartment caught on fire, and she ended up in a hospital, during which time Tyler allegedly forced her to have an abortion. Tyler and his attorneys have denied those allegations.
