Second Saturday all dressed up, ready for fun

Oct. 11—Conjure up a good time in downtown Bakersfield for Second Saturday.

Relax outside at the Bakersfield Museum of Art (1930 R St.) enjoying Jazz in the Garden.

The concert, featuring trumpeter Kris Tiner and the Bakersfield College Jazz Studies Ensemble, is presented in partnership with The Hub of Bakersfield, which organizes Second Saturday.

Bring a chair or blanket along with brunch and beverages and get settled in for music in the sculpture garden. The concert runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Inside, experience a curatorial tour of the new fall exhibitions from 1 to 2 p.m.

Four shows are currently on display: "Bryan Ida: Life of Change, A Retrospective," "Jun Yang: Blooming Journeys," "Kacy Jung & Kieu Tran: Personal Archaeology" and "Chiura Obata: Select Works"

Along with the concert and tour, the museum will also host an all-ages art project from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Brickyard (1020 18th St.) will offer fun activities for the whole family with art, a pumpkin patch and petting zoo as well as live music from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will be set up inside

If you're out and about with your favorite canine, swing by 2nd Phase Brewing (1004 19th St.), which is hosting a Howlaween Costume Party.

Starting at 1 p.m., the brewery will offer free treats to every dog and a puppuccino with every beer/seltzer purchase.

Owners are encouraged to dress their dogs in costumes but should keep them on a leash.

Apropos with the theme, JJ's Hot Dogs & Catering will have food for sale.

The Cue (1800 Q St.) will again host a yoga session at 8 a.m. with Back 2 Back Sports Complex and Blue Zones Project Bakersfield.

The event is free to attend. Bring your yoga mat and water.

Tiki-Ko's Sinking Ship (1927 K St.) welcomes the folks from Impact Street Shop to celebrate the birthday of skater and FOB (friend of the bar) Dylan Williams, who will be featured in a new skate video debuting at 6 p.m. Get the party started early at 1 p.m. when the bar opens.

The Bakersfield Art Association Art Center (1607 19th St.) will host a demonstration on using watercolor and ink pen with Iva Fendrick.

The artist will show how to add people to a landscape using the mediums. She will lead the demonstration after a short BAA meeting at 10 a.m.

In the afternoon, the center will offer free art classes courtesy of Terry Hall.

The artist will offer instruction on pattern drawing with Zentangle. A session will be held for children at 1 p.m. followed by one for adults at 2:30 p.m.

Materials will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own supplies.

On display at the center are paintings by Charlotte White featuring landscapes and iconic architecture of Kern County.

Wire + Pearl (1911 17th St.): Enjoy a complimentary cider mimosa or sparkling cider as you shop. There will also be goodie bags for the kids.

Off The Rails (1517 18th St.): From noon to 4 p.m., the tap lounge will host the Brewjas y Mas vendor pop-up with Lenguas Venenosas (custom chamoy gummies, watermelon and peach mango rim dips), I Love Loucy Lashes, Date Night Kiss Boutique (women's apparel), Crystals by MG, Moon Blossom Co. (candles, wax melts and more) and Mr. 6 Prints (3D printing).

The F Street Farmers Market (2819 F St.) will be open from 8 a.m. to noon next to In Your Wildest Dreams Consignment & Antiques (2819 F St.), which will host a pop-up event outside with local vendors like Big Al's BBQ and Mictlan Tarot. The store will offer deals with its vendors inside from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Campo Bar + Bottle (1824 G St.) will celebrate its second anniversary by donating 15% of all sales that day to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Kern County.

Enjoy a glass of wine or beer or spritzer along with snacks from noon to 10 p.m. Jason Perry Stevens will perform from 6 to 9 p.m.
