'Bachelor' Colton Underwood's disappearance is just the beginning of crazy season finale

On Monday night’s part one of The Bachelor finale, viewers watched Colton Underwood flee from producers after Cassie Randolph broke up with him during last week’s episode. Despite fans and former contestants warning Colton that Cassie wasn’t ready for marriage, he couldn’t accept losing her and ran off into the night.

Host Chris Harrison and the crew searched for Colton around Portugal in the middle of the night and began to panic when they couldn’t find him.

We have no idea where the guy is,” Harrison said. “All right, well, we’re going to look for another 20, 30 minutes, then I’ll have to call the police.

Fortunately, they were able to locate Colton before authorities needed to be called. After Harrison caught up to him, Colton was adamant that he didn’t want to continue with Tayshia Adams or Hannah Godwin.

A surprised Harrison replied, “You want to be done with the whole thing?”

After a brief pause, Colton simply responded, “Yeah.”

Colton’s decision to quit makes this one of the most shocking Bachelor moments since Arie broke up with Becca to reunite with Lauren.

Colton further explained that he felt “rejected” every time he put himself out there for love. He tearfully told Harrison that he’s “been through enough of knowing that I’m not enough for someone.” Harrison encouraged Colton to consider that both Tayshia and Hannah love him. But because he was still in love with Cassie, Colton ultimately decided it’d be best to break up with both women.

During Colton’s breakup with Tayshia, she asked him if they could speak without cameras. We heard them exchange tearful goodbyes behind closed doors, with Tayshia graciously telling Colton that he’s “a good guy.” During the live in-studio part of the finale, Harrison told Tayshia that she handled the breakup very maturely: “During that break-up, it was very interesting. You were there for him. You don’t see that very often, the person being broken up with is the caretaker.”

Tayshia explained that she’s “been in that situation” and knows that she deserves “an amazing person.”

Meanwhile, Colton still had to break up with Hannah. Colton told her that he “can’t be in love with two people,” but that she’s “made him better.” Hannah absorbed this, then lamented, “That’s what I do. I make everybody better, and they don’t want to stick around.” She expressed disappointment that Colton didn’t want to give their fantasy suite date a chance.

During his breakup with Hannah, Colton grew emotional and started to express some doubts: “I’m saying goodbye to somebody who loves me. What the [expletive] am I doing? I don’t want to lose you. I don’t know if I’m making the right decision.”

In the end, Colton decided he had to follow his heart. “I want to be with Cassie,” he said. “I love her enough to risk everything.”

During his first sit-down with Hannah, Hannah explained that she wished he had given their relationship more of a chance, but that she has learned so much about herself from the experience. “I want somebody to, I don’t know, jump a fence for me,” she joked. “I need that kind of relationship.”

While Hannah and Tayshia have moved on from Colton, Cassie still has no idea that Colton gave up everything to be with her. Will she give their relationship another chance? We’ll find out on Tuesday night’s finale.
