Will This Season of 'The Bachelor' be the Most Dramatic Yet? Host Chris Harrison Weighs In

Chris Harrison famously bills every single season of The Bachelor as the “most dramatic” one ever — so much so that it’s become a long-running joke among fans. But it sounds like there’s a decent chance Season 24 of ABC’s franchise might just be the time his prophecy bears out in reality: Host Harrison is calling this season downright “gut-wrenching,” and promises there will be a situation that producers have “never dealt with before.”

“It’s a very dramatic start, as they say, but it always is!” Harrison told Us Weekly at the Television Critics’ Association press tour, acknowledging his long-running promise to viewers. “You look at Colton Underwood’s season and that was crazy for how it went down. Hannah Brown’s season was crazy, in a totally different way. Now Peter Weber‘s season is unpredictable and riveting in another way and we don’t see it coming.”

Harrison says that Season 24 comes with a twist that shocked even the crew behind the scenes, “It’s something that the producers didn’t know about, it’s something Peter and I didn’t know about.”

Spoiler alert: Stop reading now if you want to avoid even the suggestion of the season’s final outcome.

Now, if you’re still here, the January 6 premiere of the show included a trailer that teased some very juicy intel on the season’s dramatic (ahem) end. In the clip, Harrison confronts Weber in Australia, in a scene that appears to transpire mere moments before the Bachelor hands out his final rose… along with, perhaps, a ring and a proposal.

“Before you do what you’re about to do… There’s something I just found out,” Harrison says to Weber, who looks stunned and miserable. The Bachelor then takes a moment to lie down and process. Later, he says, “It’s just like the last thing I needed to hear.”

In the clip, we also see his mom in tears. “Don’t let her go,” she says, pleadingly. “Bring her home to us.”

Many seasons of the franchise have seen spoilers pop up on social media or elsewhere — but so far that has not been the case for Season 24. Harrison acknowledges that “in this day and age, stuff gets out,” so anything could happen.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of spoilers that might be read into that trailer alone.
