Season 2 of Tropical Noir ‘Troppo,’ Starring Thomas Jane, Nicole Chamoun, Wraps in Australia, Leonine Selling at Mipcom

The second season of the tropical noir crime drama “Troppo” has completed production in Queensland, Australia, with Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) and Nicole Chamoun (“Safe Harbour,” “On the Ropes”) reprising their roles as private investigators Ted Conkaffey and Amanda Pharrell. A director known for “The Expanse” and “Dark Country,” Jane also serves as a director for two episodes of Season 2. Leonine Studios is handling international distribution.

Six months on, Ted (Jane) and Amanda (Chamoun) investigate a bizarre local murder and an exotic drug ring, whilst Amanda tangles with an old enemy and a new love, and Ted’s past stalks him and his family to Crimson Lake – with deadly consequences.

Inspired by Candice Fox’s bestselling novel “Redemption Point,” “Troppo” was created by Yolanda Ramke (“Cargo,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor”), produced by Lisa Duff (“Troppo,” “The Appleton Ladies Potato Race”), series produced by Karl Zwicky (“Troppo,” “Last King of the Cross”) and executive produced by Greg Quail and Lisa Duff for Perpetual Entertainment; Mikael Borglund and David Ogilvy for Beyond Entertainment; Stuart Ford and Lourdes Diaz and co-executive producer Matt Bankston for AGC Studios; Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn for Renegade Entertainment and Yolanda Ramke.

The series is written and script produced by Andrew Anastasios (“Irreverent,” “Jack Irish”), alongside writers Jane Allen (“Troppo” Season 1, “In Our Blood,” “Janet King”), Chelsea Cassio (“The Doctor Blake Mysteries,” “Secret Bridesmaids”), Kit Brookman (“The Stones”), Boyd Quakawoot (“Black Snow”), Cole Haddon (“Dracula”), and Angela McDonald (“Irreverent,” “Doctor Doctor”), and directed by Grant Brown (“Janet King,” “Harrow”), Robyn Grace (“Sweet Tooth”) and Thomas Jane (“The Expanse,” “Dark Country”), with cinematography by Tony O’Loughlan.

The show is a Perpetual Entertainment and Beyond Entertainment production in association with Renegade Entertainment, with major production financing from AGC Television in association with Screen Queensland. The series will have its Australian premiere on ABC TV and ABC iview.
