Sean Spicer makes controversial debut on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Sean Spicer made his debut on Monday’s premiere of Dancing With the Stars. The former press secretary for President Donald Trump performed a salsa dance that many wished was “fake news.” Coming into the premiere there was a lot of controversy surrounding Spicer, as some fans threatened to boycott ABC altogether. But with President Trump’s support, Spicer made it to opening night. Spicer was paired with professional dancer Lindsay Arnold. Arnold described his dancing skills, saying, “His danceability is like at a pre-preschool level. He's definitely not natural at it.” What Spicer lacked in dance skills, he made up for in fluorescent ruffles and energy. The former press secretary wore a neon green shirt, which was heavily discussed by judges, hosts, and fans. Carrie Ann Inaba said, “I'm going to give you best fluorescent shimmy of the night.” Meanwhile, fans at home could not stop tweeting about it. When it came to scoring his performance, the judges thought his salsa could’ve been a little Sean spicier. Bruno Tonioli told Spicer, “It's like you were being attacked by a swarm of wasps....There were some elements of salsa, not always on time or in rhythm.” They gave Spicer a combined score of 12. Spicer’s 12 was the second lowest score of the night, behind former NBA star Lamar Odom’s score of 11. When the Spicer’s score was revealed, Odom appeared shocked. Throughout the whole ordeal, Spicer maintained a positive attitude. Going into the performance he had said, “Facing the press every day is pretty daunting but it's nothing compared to going out and dancing in front of millions of people.” But in the end he was all neon green smiles. He even joked, “Look at what I'm wearing. This is payback for every single person going, ‘Ha ha, you're wearing that shirt.’”
