Sean Kingston was arrested at his home in California on Thursday, just hours after his mother was apprehend during a raid on his residence in Miami.

According to a statement given by the Broward Sheriff’s Office to People, Kingston was arrested “without incident” for “numerous fraud and theft charges.” Janice Turner is facing fraud and theft charges of her own.

The raid on Kingston’s Florida home was the result of an ongoing lawsuit between the “Eenie Meenie” singer and Ver Ver Entertainment. Claiming they’re owed payments for items Kingston purchased through the company, Ver Ver was allegedly given the impression that Kingston had a “current and ongoing working relationship” with Justin Bieber, and that the two would participate in promotional videos together to reduce the owed payments.

That hasn’t happened, though, which led to the raid. “A detective in Broward County read my lawsuit and contacted me, and so we went down and gave, with my client, a recorded statement and an affidavit,”  Ver Ver Entertainment’s attorney Dennis Card told People. “[We’ve been] waiting on this raid for more than two months now.”

Ver Ver Entertainment alleges that Kingson procured more than $1 million worth of watches, jewelry, and electronics without paying for them. As for Kingston’s mother, she previously pleaded guilty to four counts of filing false loan applications and one count of bank fraud involving $132,000 in stolen funds, and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

For his part, Kingston took to Instagram shortly before his arrest to post “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother!.. My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
