In addition to writing and directing, Baker produced “Anora” with Samantha Quan and Alex Coco. Drew Daniels served as director of photography and shot the film on 35mm.

“Anora” is the eighth writing and directing endeavor for Baker, whose filmography includes 2021’s dark comedy “Red Rocket,” which stars Simon Rex; 2017’s Oscar-nominated “The Florida Project,” featuring Willem Dafoe and Brooklynn Prince; and 2015’s indie drama “Tangerine.”

The deal was negotiated by Neon’s president of acquisitions, Jason Wald, with FilmNation’s CEO Glen Basner on behalf of the filmmakers. FilmNation Entertainment is handling the worldwide rights, and has licensed rights internationally to Le Pacte in France, Lev in Israel, Kismet in Australia and New Zealand, and Focus Features/Universal Pictures International for the rest of the world.

Earlier this week, Neon announced plans to produce and release “They Follow,” a sequel to the 2014 terrifying cult classic “It Follows.” The company recently acquired Ava DuVernay’s “Origin” and the Daisy Ridley-led “We Bury the Dead,” a survival thriller from “1922” director Zak Hilditch.

Neon’s upcoming slate includes Pamela Adlon’s directorial debut “Babes,” starring Ilana GlazerMichael Mann’s racing drama “Ferrari,” led by Adam Driver; and the Palme d’Or-winning “Anatomy of a Fall” from director Justine Triet.
