Seamus Lyte Dies: Agent Who Represented Carrie Fisher In The UK Was 54

Seamus Lyte, the UK agent to the late Carrie Fisher, has died at his home in Los Angeles of glioblastoma. He was 54.

The founder and Managing Partner of Seamus Lyte Management passed away peacefully last week with his husband of ten years, Andrew Wishart, by his side.

His death followed a three-year battle with glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly-aggressive form of brain cancer, according to Lyte’s friend, Independent Talent Group agent Laura Hill.

Lyte’s career spanned 25 years, during which he built a unique roster of clients including Star Wars actor Fisher, British meteorologist Siân Lloyd, actor and presenter Christopher Biggins, couturier David Emanuel and TV host and radio DJ Tyler West.

Hill said: “Seamus will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His legacy as a talented and highly respected entertainment professional will continue to inspire and bring joy to those who remember him.”

Lyte had relocated to LA in 2017 after 20 years in London, to better service his U.S.-based clients and expand the brand development and management capabilities of his company. His company website noted he would work closely with global broadcasters and production companies “in providing an exemplary and bespoke service” to clients.

West, a DJ on UK station Kiss FM and contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, said he was “truly heartbroken” at the loss. “Words don’t come close. One of the best people I’ve ever known. Not just an agent, but family. Loving, caring, funny, the best.”

Lyte was also manager to ITV’s U.S. Correspondent, host and actor Ross King, who said “Seamus was simply one of a kind. Loved by everyone he met. A sparkling wit, the wickedest sense of humor and a wonderful mind for business. He had the most engaging and unique way of making anyone he met feel very special. I’ve lost the dearest of friends.”

In accordance with Lyte’s wishes, no funeral will take place, but a celebration of his life is planned for early 2024.
