SEAL Team is coming to an end.

The military drama series starring David Boreanaz will conclude on the Paramount+ streaming service with its seventh season, which is set to go into production in early December and will air in 2024.

Originating on CBS, the series moved to Paramount+ with its sixth season. The show was renewed by Paramount+ for Season 7 in January and obviously production was impacted by both the writers and actors strikes.

The stand-alone movie that was announced last year, days after its Season 6 renewal, however, is no longer moving forward.

The pickup came two months after the Season 6 finale, which ended on a cliffhanger. This two month delay, which led fans to launch another social media campaign to ensure the show continues, was in part due to talks about finding ways to produce the series more efficiently for streaming, rather than as a broadcast drama, where the series originated. It’s believed that Season 7 will feature ten episodes, which is the same as Season 6.

Season 5 of SEAL Team is currently airing in a second window on CBS on Thursday nights, bringing it back to its original home as the linear network reshuffled its schedule due to the strikes.

SEAL Team follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high-stakes missions.

Boreanaz stars as Jason Hayes, the respected and intense team leader, alongside Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, Toni Trucks and Raffi Barsoumian.

The series is produced by CBS Studios and exec produced by Spencer Hudnut, Christopher Chulack, David Boreanaz, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Mark Owen.

Hudnut and Chulack said it was a “privilege” to tell stories that “honor the bravery and heroism of all who serve our country”.

“For six seasons I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew,” said David Boreanaz. “Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special OPS. I thank our fans, and I’m proud we were able to make this show to shine light in the darkness toward so many suffering today. I look forward to season seven and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”

“From its four seasons on the CBS Network to its three-season run here at Paramount+, SEAL Team has built an incredible legacy that celebrates and honors the brave men and women who serve in the armed forces,” said Jeff Grossman, EVP, Content & Business Operations, Paramount Streaming. “Our thanks to David Boreanaz and the entire cast and crew for bringing this phenomenal and thought-provoking series to life. We look forward to celebrating their work and giving Team Bravo fans a fantastic final season.”

“When we first heard the pitch for SEAL Team almost seven years ago, I was struck by the producers’ genuine passion to tell authentic stories that honored and celebrated the sacrifice of veterans and all those who serve our country,” added David Stapf, President, CBS Studios. “Since that first meeting, they have not wavered in that mission. The characters, storylines and cast performances have continued to be both nuanced and powerful. Thank you to David, Spencer, Chris, Mark and the entire cast and crew for their partnership, creative vision, and dedication. We are looking forward to an exciting and satisfying seventh and final season.”
