The long-running David Boreanaz series is set to conclude next year. So what will be the veteran actor's next TV role?

SEAL Team is officially coming to an end with next year's season 7. That means it's about time to start the countdown until David Boreanaz's next big TV role.

Since 2017, the veteran actor has starred as Jason Hayes, the respected and intense leader of the elite Bravo Team of Navy SEALs. Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, Toni Trucks, and Raffi Barsoumian costar as other members of the team. Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has ended, the show is set to resume production this December.

SEAL Team originally premiered on CBS, but switched to Paramount+ partway through season 5. Episodes of season 5 are currently airing in a second-window run on Thursdays on CBS.

“For six seasons I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew,” Boreanaz said in a statement. “Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special OPS. I thank our fans, and I’m proud we were able to make this show to shine light in the darkness toward so many suffering today. I look forward to season seven and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”

Boreanaz's TV career is remarkable for its longevity and consistency. SEAL Team premiered on Sept. 27, 2017, just a few months after the series finale of Bones aired. That show, in turn, had premiered only a year after the end of Angel. In other words, Boreanaz has hardly had a year off from being a series regular on one show or another since Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered in the spring of 1997.

So far he's played a vampire, a vampire detective, an FBI agent, and now a special forces soldier. What will his next TV role bring? Only time will tell. For now, his many fans can look forward to one more round of missions with SEAL Team.
