The Seattle Seahawks claimed quarterback Jacob Eason off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday.

As the Colts move ahead with rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger to be the QB3 behind Carson Wentz and Brett Hundley, they made the decision to waive Eason on Tuesday.

The Colts were hoping that Eason would clear waivers and then sign him to the practice squad but they won’t get that chance as the 2020 fourth-round pick heads to Seattle.

The Seahawks have been without Russell Wilson for roughly a game and a half since he injured his finger and had to get surgery. They are likely looking at a few more weeks without him. Geno Smith is currently the starter.

The Colts felt more comfortable rolling with Wentz, Hundley and Ehlinger on the active roster but once Indy made Hundley the backup over Eason a few weeks ago, the latter’s time was coming.

What the Seahawks have planned for Eason remains to be seen, but he’ll be looking to get a chance to play with his new team on the west coast.
