Scott Frost on rumors he'll be Nebraska's next coach: 'That's just totally false'

Scott Frost would like you to stop thinking he’s close to agreeing to terms to be Nebraska’s next coach.

Friday, a writer from Bleacher Report with Nebraska ties tweeted that Frost was close to agreeing to terms on a 7-year $35 million contract to be the next coach of the Huskers. Mind you, Nebraska currently has a coach in Mike Riley.

To hire Frost, Nebraska would have to fire Riley. Which isn’t farfetched. But still, it has to happen.

Anyway, Frost was asked about the Nebraska report Saturday after his team’s win over Temple.

“That’s just totally false,” Frost said. “I haven’t paid attention to all these whirlwind rumors and everything and I’m not going to. I’ve got an unbelievable team and I’m going to coach them. I can promise you that no decision has been made about anything.”

Frost’s Central Florida team is now 10-0 after beating Temple. If the Knights beat South Florida to go to 11-0 next week, UCF will play for the AAC title. An AAC title means that Central Florida will finish the season undefeated and be the Group of Five team invited to a New Year’s Six Bowl.

Frost is a former Nebraska quarterback, so linking him to the potential job with the Huskers makes some sense. New Huskers AD Bill Moos did not hesitate to praise Frost in a radio interview earlier this month.

Nebraska fans really, really want him:

Florida is also looking for a coach and Frost is one of three prime candidates for the job, per our Pete Thamel. Oh, and UCF is doing all it can to retain Frost and his coaching staff.

We’re probably still a few weeks away from knowing where Frost will coach in 2018.
